Digital Auditions for The Roaring Girl set in the 1920's
Auditions and rehearsals will be digital until the stay at home order has been lifted. We are working on a way to digitalize performance if social distancing is still in place this summer. Note: Odd's Bodkins is an ensemble-driven company, and certain roles have been pre-filled by ensemble members. The roles not yet cast are listed below. Actors of all genders, ages and races encouraged to audition. Parents and guardians encouraged to audition. Children will be welcome at rehearsals and performances (a babysitter will be provided). Please do not audition if you are not comfortable with children in the workplace. This show will include music sung and performed by cast members. Roles to be cast: Moll – the Roaring Girl: must be nonbinary or genderqueer. Must be able to play an instrument and have fight experience. Sir Alexander Wengrave – Sebastian's overbearing male identifying parent who will let him marry only a woman with a large dowry Mary Fitz-Allard – a young female identifying person willing to go to great lengths to marry the person she loves Trapdoor – a spy, queer but in the closet, any gender Sir Adam Appleton - a friend of Sir Alexander, open to everyone Sir Beauteous Ganymede - a friend of Moll's, queer identifying Goshawk/mafioso – open to everyone Greenwit/mafioso – open to everyone Mrs. Tiltyard – a shopkeeper, female identifying Mrs Openwork – a seamstress, female identifying Important Info (PLEASE READ CAREFULLY): Callbacks will also be digital. Actors cast will receive a small stipend for performances. Cassie Winter and Nora Manca Wickman co-directing; Time Commitment: Performance Dates are weekends in August starting the 1st and running through the 16th at 2pm. Rehearsals will be on week nights based on availability and on Saturday afternoons. Rehearsals will be digital for now. Rehearsals will begin in May through July, mostly on weeknights and Saturday afternoons. Most actors will only be called to rehearsal 2 times a week initially, with call frequency increasing in June. Performances will be on weekends at 2pm August 1 through 16. Some rehearsals may take place outdoors in public Chicago Parks spaces. In case of inclement weather, back up indoor locations will be given in advance and rehearsal locations will be confirmed with enough notice prior to rehearsal. Rehearsal conflicts are okay with advance notice; show conflicts may invalidate casting. Please notify the directors of conflicts in audition email. Material To Prepare: A video with a 3 minute audition with 60-90 seconds of Shakespeare or similar or 1920's monologue. Please mention: pronouns if you are nonbinary or gender queer and want to be considered for Moll queer/LBGTQA+ and want to be considered for Trapdoor or Sir Beauteous fight experience musical talents (instruments played, vocal range, etc.) Conflicts in writing in email Your email response from the directors will serve as an audition confirmation.
